Garden Surprises

My garden is coming along nicely and my plants seem to be growing at a good pace. The only concern I have right now for my garden is it is being assaulted by weeds. I am going to share some pictures, but don't be to judgmental when you see how much grass is growing in the garden. 

As you can see from the above photo, I have been weeding around the beans, peppers and tomatoes. I really need to get in there and get all the grass out from around the corn. 

The little patch up front with the red bark around it is strawberries. 

That cluster of green tall things at the front are my sunflowers. They are going to be huge! I am so excited! I have never in my life grown anything with such success.

Gardening Paradise

Woo Hoo!!!! My garden is sprouting people!! We have had to deal with tropical depression Anna here near the coast of North Carolina so we have gotten lots of rain in the last few days. This rain has helped my garden sprout.

I have had so much fun outside recently. I love the feel of squishy dirt between my toes and fingers!! Check out my garden....

 The picture above are my sunflowers. I need to weed it out, which I will do this weekend.

My garden is a big focus of mine this season, but I am also working on some landscaping in my yard. 

 This is a picture of the Hydrangea plant my son got me for Mother's Day. He also took that particular photo.

This photo is my rose bush, perennial and some purple flowers in the back. I forget what they are called. (Sorry, new to the whole gardening and landscaping hobby)

 This photo is the perennial and a little cedar type tree.

 This is the other perennial that I planted on the opposite side of the porch. I do realize I need to rake up the ground more and possibly put down more red bark. That is my plan for the weekend, to really get it cleaned up and looking spectacular.

Happiness

My boys got me some plants for Mother's Day this past weekend, which is awesome because gardening and growing things is my new hobby. My youngest got me some sunflowers and my oldest got me a Hydrangea to plant outside. 

These plants will definitely be planted outside as soon as it stops raining. They are both beautiful plants. I can't wait to see how they grow. Once we get these outside, I am going to post all my landscaping pictures. 

Planting My Garden

Yesterday, I planted tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, butter beans, snap beans, corn, strawberries and some sunflowers for fun. There is still some grass in my garden bed, but I am going to see if my plants sprout and then I am going to get in there and weed it really good.

The picture above is a selfie of me and my garden. I'm telling everybody my garden is my new love. They say if you talk to your plants or play them music, they will grow better. Who knows? I put down a bit of planting soil as well, but as you can also see in the picture, it looks a bit concentrated. This is my first garden, so I  am learning as I go.

The plants in the picture above are the tomatoes and peppers. I really hope my tomatoes do well because I actually planted the whole garden just for them. (They are on the back row)

The picture above is actually a strawberry plant. I am going to need to get some pine straw for this plant and I think I may have to put plastic over it at some point. Not sure, but I will find out.

Random pic of my garden after I got everything planted. I plan on working on it for a while everyday because I really want it to grow.

Like I pointed out in one of the above pictures, the planting soil stuff that I used is kind of concentrated but I did try to fan it out by raking. The funny thing is I actually spilled a whole packet of sunflower seeds on the ground so I don't know if they will grow or not. I sure hope so!
