Creative Joy

As long as I can recall, I have loved to draw, doodle, and find ways to be creative! It brings a sense of calmness, relaxation, fun, and the joys of being creative in any way you possibly can! I'm sure this is the feeling we all get no matter what way we are being creative; drawing, decorating cakes, scrap booking, crafting, writing, and the list could go on and on!

When I was younger I loved to draw, and I was ALWAYS doing it; but sadly I haven't drawn anything with
a pencil in years.  For a long time I didn't have the time or quietness needed to sit down and do this anymore; so, I turned to scrap booking for a while.   I think having kids inspired me to want to capture and save every moment; and scapbooking gave me that as well as the creativity that I love!

When I decided to go back to school in March of 2010 I chose Web Design because I believed it would give me the opportunity to be creative and enjoy my passion for it. However, with all the pre`required classes, I didn't think I'd ever get to the actual classes for it (lol).  However, when I reached those classes they were code detailed than creativity based.   :(

As I researched Web Design related stuff I stumbled upon many areas of creativity that sparked my interests like no other... the ability to bring art to life.  No longer on a piece of paper, but on screen.  The possibilities are truly endless (if you have the $$, that is).

I grew a strong interest in the animation of characters and just how realistic you can make them look and react as well. I am really considering getting in the creation of gaming or something similar as I look for a new work adventure!!

There are so many programs out there that offer all types of realism through the computer and creativity for FREE that I have spent many hours playing with over the past few years! I enjoy playing with Daz 3D & Google Sketchup 8; and even though they both take some time getting used to, they both allowed me to enjoy being creative!

What about you all... What ways do you to express your creativity & get that creative joy?

The past few months I have not done anything Creative, but as I focus reconstructing me I want that to change!  I miss who I am when I am doing things that I love!!

Doing these things aren't for other's approval or to get glorification (or discrimination)... it is a feeling of peace that isn't easily explained.... it makes me happy in a way that nothing else does.  If that makes sense!?

My challenge to myself & you all... Is to be creative!!  Not all of us can draw, write a book,  or design a blueprint... but WE ALL HAVE A CREATIVE SIDE IN SOME WAY.  Challenge it!  Bring a joy like no other, a peace of mind...

Challenge yourself to do something NEW & BE SURPRISED when you succeed!!!  :)

You Can't Keep A Good Woman Down

I am at fault! That's right...I said it. I have been mistreated by the men that I have loved because I did not set standards for myself. That's right...I said it. I have always been a good girl at heart, never sleeping around, trying not to be stank, and I had men pursue me and marry me. But, I haven't been able to keep them. Why? Because I did not set standards for how I wanted to be treated.

I tell you what though, I am setting standards for myself now. I will not be used, I will not be lied to or lied on, I will not give up the cookie, I will have respect for myself. That's what has been wrong with me the last few years. I had no self-worth and no self-respect. I thought I had to put up with being disrespected, ignored, and cheated on because I was married and that's what married people do. You work things out, even when you are miserable, right?

I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR! I WILL BE RESPECTED, I WILL BE HAPPY WITH WHO I AM BECAUSE YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD WOMAN DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could a Thought Change Your Day?

It sounds simple, but could it be true?  I found this quote graphic and thought about a time where I tried something similar..

http://www.aplaceformom.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/positive-thoughts-can-change-your-day-quote-1024x603.png

When we roll out of bed in the morning, our minds start to load our data (so-to-speak), our thoughts and the stress of every day life starts to slowly pour in.

BUT, what if?

What IF we decided to start the morning load with a positive thought...
  • Today is going to be AWESOME!
  • I love my life!
  • I am smart and beautiful
  • I am going to ace that test/job interview
  • etc.
I can't tell you how many days I have woke up and the first thing on my mind was...
  • How bad I felt
  • How much I did NOT want to go to Work
  • or Just thinking about the stress I was dealing with
Do you know how many of those days were POSITIVE/GOOD days?  Not many!!

I'm going to try something New, and I hope you all will join me in a positive thinking journey.  Retraining the mind to focus on the positive instead of the negative (which is going to be a challenge for me).

Each morning for the next month I am going to think a positive thought when I wake up and see how it may or may not change my day!! :)

NC State Bar Certified Paralegal

Today I thought I would give a tutorial of sorts on how to become a NC State Bar Certified Paralegal. I love that title, it sounds important.

Thirteen years ago, when my oldest son was born, I decided to return to college. I had been before, but only took college transfer classes. I had always thought I would be a lawyer, but as you know, life can kind of get in the way. As I was perusing college courses in the local community college's manual, I found the information for becoming a paralegal and found it interesting. So I signed up.

Between working, being married and raising children it took me 6 years to get my two year degree. There were times when I would actually sleep in my car between classes because I was so tired. But I did it. I earned my Associates Degree in Paralegal Technology.

Once I earned the degree, it was time to sit for the exam to become certified. Now, in North Carolina you do not have to sit for this exam. I chose to do so because I was serious about this being my chosen profession and it would look good on a resume.
I was really nervous, but I passed the exam and now instead of just using the title of paralegal, I can use the title NC State Bar Certified Paralegal. As a certified paralegal I have to take 6 hours of continuing education with one hour focused on ethics each year to keep my certification up to date.

After I graduated college and became certified, I went back to college to earn my bachelors degree in paralegal studies. It only took me 2 years to earn a 4 year degree. I was actually able to do all my classes online and the college was ABA approved. Meaning American Bar Association approved.  If the paralegal program at any school is not ABA approved, do not take it. You are wasting your time.

If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment box below. Thanks.
