Wild

patheos.com - Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl Strayed

I watched the movie Wild last night starring Reese Witherspoon. I had been wanting to see this movie for awhile because of the self-reflection aspect. This movie was based on the book written by Cheryl Strayed about her life in the early 1990's when she hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. Cheryl didn't have any outdoor experience when she began her journey, all she had was determination and will.

While Cheryl was making her journey to get back to the woman she knew she was deep down inside or as she stated "the woman my mother raised me to be" she had to come to terms with the shitty things she did to herself and her ex-husband while she was in a downward spiral after her mother died. It got me to thinking about the demise of important relationships we all have at some point in our lives. What I appreciate about her story is she owned her shit! She owned the bad things she did and that is what makes her likeable. She is a complete bad ass for hiking that trail by herself with no experience and owning it.
